Outdoor Table
Care Tips
An outdoor table is every bit a part of your
home. Aside from giving your truly enjoyable experiences with
your family, it also helps enhance your home’s overall
image.
As such, it deserves equal care and
attention. If you want your patio or garden table to last for
many years, you would take the right steps to care for it. Here
are some important reminders pertaining to table care:
· Tables used outdoors receive a lot of sun
exposure. This can lead to changes in color or even damages to
the material itself. Some wood types in particular may warp or
fade. It would therefore be a good idea to use a garden
umbrella over your table. If your furniture does not have a
built in umbrella holder, you can use a standalone shade.
· Not every piece of furniture will look
great with an umbrella over it. If this is true for your table,
you might consider getting a furniture cover that is
specifically meant to go over an outdoor piece. You would have
to take the measurements of your outdoor table to get the most
suitable fit.
· Outdoor furniture has to be cleaned and
washed. Since most outdoor pieces are made to withstand dust,
dirt and stains, you may have to wash yours only twice a year.
Occasional dusting and vacuuming however may be necessary.
· Don’t let a stain settle on your table.
When spills and stains touch the surface, wipe them dry with a
soft cloth. A particularly nasty spill can be cleaned with
water and mild soap on a cloth.
· Wood is a very popular material for
outdoor furniture. If you have a table made of teak, you may
not have to worry much about providing extra treatment for
protection. Teak oil application may be used simply to enhance
the color. Some other wood types however may need treatment
retouches to prevent damages from exposure, insects and
rotting.
An outdoor table is a very sturdy piece of
furniture. You can’t just leave it as it is though. It has to
be properly cared for if you expect it to look great and serve
its purpose well.
